well, vinca never happened, and the Aubrey i purchased gained MRM's hair, but here are Sargasso and Fen. They are still not finished.

Sargasso is cool as a cucumber, and will eventually have lady-sailor clothes. She was a Mrs. Retro Mama and has veen rerooted using the knot method in Yadeno Mohair
Fen is a sullen little brat (Petal's little sister). She was a MBF with carved lips that i bought hairless and nude. My first attempt at rescuing a blythe from an unfinished carving job, and i did OK. she is mohaired with stuff from dollyhair.com

Fen is probbaly my #1 favorite blythe at the moment. Don't tell Petal.

My Aubrey arrived a few days ago...and was promptly sand matted, boggled, etc, etc ,etc.

she is darling, and it is going to be very hard to customize her. Of course, i'm gonna do it anyway.

In the meantime, she's going to enjoy some kenner-y makeup.

potential names- vinca (of course), juniper, vine, but ultimately we'll have to wait and see who she is when she is done.

So, Along with the Sandra B. and Star customs, my green-haired neo is also underway once the scalps arrive.

I did a practice run with the PAM colored mohair on a petite named Tobin Sprout and all systems seemed to be go.

They will be based off two fabulous ladies that i happen to know, dolls in their own right, who need to be immortalized in plastic.

Star is a talented candy-colored lass from California, and her regular musings and art can be found on her site this is star. she also rollerskates around her office at kink.com. Be prepared for lots of red and white!
Star has ling straight medium brown hair, and red bangs. She will be somehting not yet decided.

they are being immortalized for the simple fact that i have a blythe sized canoe (to reflect their important role as part of the founding members of the ladyscouts, a secret society in Boston whose motto is 'we can do anything boys can do, only cuter), and i think it would be hilarious.

My little half-finished mohaired petite.

she once was a wake up kiss that i purchased explicitly for the outfit she has on, and then i decided she'd be my petite mohair test subject.

she now has chu chu chan's faceplate, and butterfly wing's eyeballs.

rehairing with mohair is easier than i was lead to believe, but it is still a pain in the ass.

I am almost satisfied that i do not need a petite princess a la mode.

I wish i could say i was happy. I wanted this girl to be gorgeous, but her hair and the remake of the dress is just not what i want or need in my collection.

What mostly bugs me is the thickness of the braid, and the way her other hair lays over it.

Apparently they do not recommend taking the braid out due to the way the doll is rooted. I just don't think the manufactured doll does justice to the original (moreso even than gentle river did or could), and i feel bad for the 13 year old designer.

Maybe i should get a rouge noir, braid her hair and put this dress on her?

the one thing that bummed me out about the original. i.e. the hair being too dull for the dress (in my opinion, i suspect it was just a restyled v-smash) has been corrected. this darling's going to have vibrant red hair! Hopefully the same color as Cinema Princess, but i can settle for Mod Molly colored.

This is what would happen if i would have designed a mushroom themed blythe, albeit not as cute. and we all know how muhc i love iconic mushrooms.

Seriously? there is seriously a doll coming out that is a forest dancer (much like my beloved enchanted petal) bearing my absolute favorite girls' name ever? and she has a fairy companion, just like all of my dolls?

It's like the CWC people are channeling Theresa and me. a forest dwelling baker? that is totally her.

I am going to be obsessing about this until i locate some pictures.

Rehairing with Mohair

So, Last night i came home to two bags of the loveliest deep blue/green mohair from Yadeno. It is a bit on the short side, but might be ok for the doll to have a short bob instead of long hair.

After some straightening, skin comparison.

A custom is definitely in the works, based loosely off Princess a La Mode, utilizing an approximate hair color, approximate brown and turquoise eyechips, and maybe a pale green and possibly grey.
Her name will most likely be Vinca.

I haven't yet decided whether i am going to use Happy Harbor or primadolly Aubrey as the base. There's a $40 price difference, but i really love Happy Harbor's stock, eyechips, makeup, etc.

But i have settled on an Engish dollhouse: Caroline's Home (from 1976) by Barton. it's defintiely an early one, as it doesn't have any back windows. production of caroline's home was eventually taken over by Lundby in 1984.

it was $3.99 at saver's, so i really can't complain, and the windmill wallpaper is adorable! The downside is that it is not in the best of condition, and is made out of cardboard and plastic. ON TO THE HOUSE!
